Marketing during pandemic

Marketing During a Pandemic

When a pandemic comes, we are warned to stay home and protect ourselves. But what about the businesses that need activity? If everyone is inside, how are they going to come to us?

We live in an era where we have technology at the reach of a finger. Where there are ways to communicate without contact. These times allow us to utilize what we have and do things as they have never been done before.

Here are some ways that you can do marketing during a pandemic using tools that you may already have.

  1. Using Social Media
  2. Engaging Your Audience
  3. Making Ads and Commercials

Use Social Media!

When somebody is not being active, what are they doing? They are most likely on the internet and social media.

Today, there are tons of platforms that almost everyone uses or knows of. By making use of these platforms, you will be able to reach far more people than non-virtually.

Pulling out some stats from the website smartinsights.com, Let’s take a look at some data that can show you just how many people you can reach by using social media for your marketing.

  • 43% of all users are spending more time on social media. On average, users are spending almost 2.5 hours on social media since the pandemic.
  • As of July 2020, social media use has gone up 10.5% (that’s 376 million new users)
  • Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram are the top 3 most popular and used social media platforms in the world

What can you do with this information? Well, take this information and apply it to your marketing strategy. Take a look at who you can target and the best way to reach them.

The best practice on how to use social media for marketing during a pandemic, or any time at all, is to find out the best time to post, what to post, and how to engage by analyzing your insights.

Engaging Your Audience

Engaging your audience allows you to be creative and put your fun ideas into action. But what is the point in engaging your audience? The answer to that is everything.

The point in engaging your audience is to be active and show them that you are here. That you have a presence and want to connect with them. Personally, I would be loyal to a business that shows they care or does their best to engage with me.

What are some ways that you can engage your audience?

Some of the ways that you can engage your audience during a pandemic that will also help with your marketing is by doing a giveaway, contest, or a live video.

It turns out that live videos get about 24 times more engagement from the audience compared to uploaded videos.

Now, when it comes to engaging the audience via giveaways and contests, that is the most fun of any marketing. Not only do you get people to participate, but showing them that you are not just about making a profit and can have fun, will gain brand recognition and loyalty.

How to use engaging your audience in the best practice is by hosting live videos. This way, you can get two birds with one stone by hosting a live video about a contest or giveaway you are doing. Engage your audience²!

Making Ads and Commercials

During a pandemic, people are usually staying home for most of their days and nights. What better way to get recognition than an ad? Whether it be on the TV, a few seconds before a video starts, or on the side panel of a website, you will be seen by someone.

Since more people are using technology to fill their day, putting your business in these places will heighten the level of consumer awareness.

Best practices when making an ad or commercial is to remember ABC.

  1. Avoid passive voice – it tends to be filled with words that you don’t really need to get a message across.
  2. Be relatable – using the COVID-19 pandemic for an example, using actors who are wearing masks, or following social distancing procedures, will make you more credible.
  3. Create ease of access – most purchases are created by clicking a “Buy Now” button. During a commercial, having your number active on the screen will most likely lead to action.

Stay safe!
